Well, it is no surprise to anyone that I am a shocking blogger in not having updated my blog since it’s inception 2 years ago. The upside of this is that I have many things to report. After converting a quarter of the shed I now have my very own freshly painted and light filled studio. After many years perched in the corner of the living room I am now able to spread out and create without having to pack up paint supplies between works. The dog has also moved in and the children have added a few of their own home comforts, but all in all I’m a very happy camper. Thanks must go to the husband for relinquishing half of his workshop, handy builder-type friend “Dude” for his plastering expertise (extends to Dude’s patient wife Jacinta), and other friend with skills “Droop” for his additional man power. My son Riley proved very handy with a wood saw and my daughters, Eliza and Josie showed their eternal optimism and enthusiasm for d.i.y. projects while covered in plaster dust. I am pleased to report that it has enabled me to produce some work that I am really happy with and proud of. I have placed a few pieces in the Ward family’s “Swinging Bridge “ Cellar Door located in the Finns old store building on Gaskill St. Canowindra NSW, with a view to showing the full exhibition there early next year.
I continue to draw inspiration from my rural surroundings. I will capture a moment and work on the composition, modifying the elements to gain the desired result. I am often motivated to paint when a change in the weather or season has provided a visually striking combination of colours. The use of vibrant colours and defining lines gives the work a fresh modern feel further emphasising the uniqueness of the event.
